This series began with the studying of various cultures that have implemented the use of ceramics in their society. Choosing Greece, China, Peru, and the United States, I researched the different styles of each culture. The pieces consisted of double-eared vases, a three-legged urn, Mohican effigy vessel, and a modernized teapot respectively. Not only was each piece made in the style of each culture, but I also had the chance to study mold making. Through use of a baby doll, I created 2, 3, and 5 part plaster molds to cast slip into. Each one would produce a baby clay arm, leg, or torso. Each piece consisted of a thrown form, and attached hand-built molds, juxtaposing the human form onto these cultural pieces.
