So yeah, that's basically it. We met every Thursday afternoon of our Fall 2008 semester and we took the kids on several field trips including a visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Walker Sculpture Garden, and our very own school, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. It was a blast to hang out with these kids and there were some really hilarious things to be heard. Coming from a background of teaching claymation and moviemaking to kids during the summers back in Kansas, this was a perfect transition for me. Although frustrating and troublesome as kids may be sometime, it was a great feeling to be a role model and see them look up to us through their actions and attitudes.
This is Koffi. He cracked me up most of all. He was the youngest one in our class and he sadi a lot of great things. "Brian! Where are the scissors?" "We didn't bring any today Koffi." "What? Now Brian, How are we supposed to make art if we don't have any scissors?!" I definitely bonded with him most of all and I have a bunch of great stories to tell if you ever care to hear.
Seven.
Joe.
Killian in the back, Joe in front. Goof balls as usual.
Killian.
Shrutika.
Kajal.
Sisters.
Everyone! I was standing at the side making faces. Trying to get some sort of smile or reaction from them haha!
These are pictures from our visit to the Walker Sculpture Garden.
Shrutika and Mackemeh are natural models. Mackemeh's family moved halfway through our class. She was an awesome little lady and we missed her perfect manners and big smile!
We just had to bring the soccer ball!
Sometimes I felt like this.
We had them draw their favorite sculptures at the very end.
On the last day we had a card and cookie decorating party. We also thought it would be fun to bring my laptop and take pictures on photo booth. And yes... it was a blast haha! That's to say it was the most excited I've ever seen them!
