Gallery 13 Art-A-Whirl
Art-A_Whirl was a great success! Thanks to everyone who came out to support all the artists and to my friends who came with me to the opening! Here is an installation view of my Underground Civilizations.
Art-A-Whirl is an annual event that takes place the third weekend in May. This self-guided, open studio tour draws tens of thousands of visitors to Northeast Minneapolis each year, and showcases the artistic vitality and diversity of this community. The event is sponsored by NEMAA-the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association. This year Gallery 13 is expanding the event to downtown! Come check it out this weekend! My Underground Civilizations are being presented in the gallery and I'm just hoping for lots of eyes to see them! Hope to see ya there!
Earth Day 2009
For this year's Earth Day Celebration weekend, the Mall of America held a call for arts, for sculptors to come and create a piece of work in front of an audience. Well to say the least, there was no audience, and they gave me nothing to try and create something. It was a fun time though and I really enjoyed it!

Travel Abroad Italy 2008
For this year's Winter Break I had the opportunity to travel to Italy to visit my good friend Marco! He was an exchange student at Mcad when I was a freshman and I had always been wanting to see him ever since he left. SO this time it was my turn to travel! He lives in Montevarchi, which is about an hour train ride away from Florence. It was probably one of the best trips of my life! We saw Rome, Florence, Sienna, Arrezo, and a bunch of other smaller towns. To me it was very special and unique not only because I got to see a new country, but because I was able to live WITH Marco for the whole month. So being surrounded by the locals and very littel English allowed me to learn much more and much faster. I was able to see little nooks and crannies of Italy that no tourist ever gets to see and I think very few people get to experience this so I feel very fortunate and lucky. Here's some pictures of various places. (Rome/Vattican City, Florence night time, Santa Maria Novella, First day with Marco/Ponte Vecchio in back)

Volunteer Art Adventures 2008
It is now getting close to Thanksgiving and the after school program at Jeffereson Elementary School is still going strong. Kelsey Olson, Ella Schreck and myself are leading a class called Art Adventures where we take these 7 kids (ranging from 2nd to 5th grade) to various art galleries, museums and parks to learn and make all different kinds of art. This is an ongoing adventure and the relationships are still growing. Here are some pics from our visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. We gave them all their own camera to take pictures of their favorite pieces. My group consisted of Koffi and Killian and it was a blast!
Sweeney Todd Stage Design 2008
Halloween is coming up, and that means I'll be going back home to see Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. What's especially exciting about this play is that I had the chance to design the stage for it! It will be shown at Shawnee Mission North Theatre. It will be showing from October 22 - November 1. So get your tickets now! I myself will be going on November 1st if anyone cares to know.
Kiln Strip 2008
I was given the chance a couple days ago to strip a kiln in our 3D shop here at MCAD. I was presented with a hammer and some crowbars and told to go at it. Here's some pictures of this 6 hour adventure.
