Steven Siegel came to visit MCAD and taught a weekend workshop titled "A Large Accumulation of Small Things." Eighteen students, along with myself were able to participate. Starting with trips to various scrap material stores, we then met and had dinner with Steven, taking in the process and direction that we would be heading in. The next two days were straight work, combining materials, collaborating, and delving into the process to discover our natural tendencies and how we work. The picture below is the piece I created. Made completely flat on the table, I hung it on the wall at the end, never knowing what it would look like or whether it would work. Like Steven might say, it was a serendipitous ending, or happy mistake.
